To verify whether the relationship between hipk2 absence and CIN defined in MEFs can occur in human cancers, we evaluated the HIPK2 expression in tissue microarrays (TMAs) of pancreatic cancers in which tetraploidization due to cytokinesis failure precedes an aneuploid state characterized by high incidence of near-tetraploid karyotypes [29-32]. This evidence concerns the gene HIPK2 and pancreatic neoplasm.
