TMPRSS11D and hepatitis B virus infection: Taken together, our experiments demonstrated that an increased activity of sirtuins, which might lead to global histone hypoacetylation signatures, could contribute to the HBV-induced pathomechanism in nontransformed hepatocytes during hepatitis B. In contrast to studies in hepatoma cells, we could not find evidence for the importance of DNA hypermethylation as an early event, the involvement of HAT or class I/II HDACs on an epigenome-wide level or a desolation of the nucleosome landscape in the HBV-Met chromatin.
