Besides loss of 3p and gain of 5q that were validated in the KIRC series17, it has recently been found that 9p deletion, encompassing CDKN2A, is associated with higher stage, larger tumours, necrosis, microvascular and renal vein invasion, and higher SSIGN (stage, size, grade and necrosis) score26.
