Despite the well-established pre-clinical effects of HDAC inhibitors on differentiation, cell cycle, apoptosis, autophagy, chemotherapy resistance [25,26], as well as alterations of tumor suppressor pathways [27,28], clinicial trials have so far failed to demonstrate a significant anti-tumoral effect of HDACis in solid malignancies [44,48], in contrast to leukemias and lymphoma. This evidence concerns the gene HDAC9 and lymphoma.
