Overexpression of KV1.1 is seen in medulloblastoma (Northcott et al., 2012), elevated KV1.3 can be detected in multiple malignancies including breast, colon, and prostate cancer (Comes et al., 2013), and overexpression of a specific splice variant of the BK channel correlates with the malignancy grade of glioma (Liu et al., 2002). Here, KCNMA1 is linked to central nervous system cancer.
