Increased hepatic G6pc has been shown to be sufficient to elicit insulin resistance [32] and hepatic G6pc is rapidly induced by T3in vivo [21] and was the most highly induced gene in vitro when HepG2 cells were treated with either GC-1 or T3 [33], suggesting that G6pc induction is a direct effect of TR activation in hepatocytes.
