The further characterization of LRRK2 transgene expression in the novel Thy1.2-LRRK2 transgenic mouse lines included three different assessments: analysis of transgene expression during embryonic and postnatal development; analysis of the cellular localization pattern of the transgene in the brain, in particular in those regions affected by PD neuropathology; and analysis of the number of dopamine neurons in the midbrain to detect PD-associated neuropathology. This evidence concerns the gene LRRK2 and Parkinson disease.
