Clinical data showed that the enhanced expression of Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL is related to a shorter patient survival, whereas the upregulation of Bax is associated with longer survival and these findings suggest that the modulation of apoptotic pathways might be one of the reasons why epithelial ovarian cancer shows only limited sensitivity to anticancer treatment [10-12]. The gene discussed is BAX; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
