In our analyses, FOXM1 itself emerged as a putative trans-eQTL gene associated with the rs6500843 locus, and it has been reported to regulate four other genes on that list: EXO1, MCM6, UHRF1, and KPNA2. Of these, EXO1 is of particular interest, as the FOXM1-EXO1 regulatory connection has been previously reported to modulate chemoresistance in ovarian carcinoma cells [30]. This evidence concerns the gene FOXM1 and ovarian carcinoma.
