To gain more information on the genetics of vulvar tumors, we analyzed 22 SCC, two MM, and one atypical squamous cell hyperplasia (AH) case for expression of the high-mobility group AT-hook genes HMGA2 and HMGA1. We then searched them for mutations in the isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) and 2 (IDH2) and telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) genes, and checked them for the methylation status of the promoter of O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT). The gene discussed is IDH1; the disease is vulvar neoplasm.
