Two important new aspects were subsequently added to our understanding: (1) as predicted by Blagosklonny (2007) differentiated tumour cells were shown to have the capacity to de-differentiate and become CSC (or “stemloids”) [41]; (2) induction of stemness by DNA or spindle damage was shown to be associated with the activation of meiotic genes coupled to reversible endopolyploidy (in TP53 function deficient cells).
