Studies on polarization of T cells had showed that OVA peptide-specific CD4+ T cells secreted markedly higher levels of Th2 cytokines such as IL-5, IL-13, and IL-4 but a lower amount of Th1 cytokine IFN-γ when cocultured with postseptic splenic DCs that pulsed with OVA, indicating that Ag-loaded DCs direct T cells toward a Th2-dependent response during severe sepsis [30]. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is Sepsis.
