Genes in the complement pathway, such as complement factor H (CFH)3, 4, angiogenesis pathway, such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)5, the high-density lipoprotein metabolic pathway, such as cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP)6, and the HtrA serine peptidase 1 (HTRA1) gene7, have been associated with AMD. This evidence concerns the gene CETP and age-related macular degeneration.
