Although generally invasion into the brain is thought to proceed across the BBB without involvement of the CP (Chang et al., 2004; Olszewski et al., 2004; Charlier et al., 2005), rare cases of infection presenting cryptococcal choroid plexitis have been described (Cho et al., 1998; Kovoor et al., 2002; Graciela Agar et al., 2009; Kumari et al., 2010). This evidence concerns the gene CP and infection.
