Recent studies suggest that Sox2 is aberrantly expressed in pancreatic cancer and involved in later events of carcinogenesis [43], and its overexpression confers pancreatic cancer cell stemness and is sufficient to drive sphere formation and expression of CSC markers [44,45] , as well as induce EMT drivers such as Snail, Twist and Slug [36]. This evidence concerns the gene SNAI1 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
