The seminal discovery of the recurrent (>50%) genetic rearrangements involving the androgen‐regulated gene transmembrane protease, serine 2 (TMPRSS2), with v‐ets erythroblastosis virus E26 oncogene homolog (avian) (ERG) in PCa prompted the molecular categorization of PCa into distinct molecular subtypes 3, similar to hematologic malignancies, for identifying patients with aggressive subtypes and distinct therapeutic targets. This evidence concerns the gene TMPRSS2 and posterior cortical atrophy.
