RITA (reactivation of p53 and induction of tumor cell apoptosis) is a small molecule that blocks p53/MDM2 interaction (Issaeva et al., 2004); however, it appeared to be rather unspecific since its pro-apoptotic capacity was described to be p53-independent in several tumors, including myelomas (Surget et al., 2014) and additional data indicated that RITA cannot inhibit this interaction in vitro (Krajewski et al., 2005). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and neoplasm.
