Constitutive signaling via Gαq and Gαi proteins eventually leads to the activation of transcription factors such as NFAT, NF-κB, CRE, and SRF (McLean et al., 2004), resulting in the upregulation of cyclinD1 (Maussang et al., 2006), VEGF (Maussang et al., 2006), COX-2 (Maussang et al., 2009a), β-catenin (Langemeijer et al., 2012), and IL-6 (Slinger et al., 2010) in COS-7, HEK293T, NIH-3T3 cells, and HCMV-infected glioblastoma cells. This evidence concerns the gene GNAQ and glioblastoma.
