However our data demonstrate unique roles for Tm7sf2 in the resistance to tumour development and in the control of cholesterol biosynthesis in the skin that follows TPA challenge; the up-regulation of the cholesterol biosynthetic machinery noted in wild type mice after TPA treatment was lost in the Tm7sf2 knock out animals while tumours in the knock out animals were more numerous, larger in size and developed more rapidly.
