This is in good agreement with our previous observations on NEU3 transgenic mice showing an involvement of NEU3 in colon carcinogenesis in terms of an increase in azoxymethane- induced aberrant crypt foci together with enhanced phosphorylation of EGFR in the colon mucosa [13], although some other such as Wnt-related molecules should also confer the tumorigenic potential in the case of colon cancer [37].
