Several well established families of oncogenes (growth factors: EGF, bFGF, PDGF; growth factor receptors: ErbB/HER, PDGFR; tyrosine kinases: SRC, Yes1, Lyn, ILK, Fyn, EGFR; mitotic check points molecules: p53, NDC80, PTEN; and serine/threonine protein kinases AURKA, PLK1, NEK2) provide molecular links between centrosome abnormalities and the development of cancer [8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15].
