Other high-risk melanoma genes have been discovered: cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CDK4) [11], BRCA-1 associated protein (BAP1) [12], and recently via exome sequencing of dense melanoma families, several new high-risk genes affecting telomere functions have been identified: POT1, ACD, TERF2IP and TERT [13–16]. Here, TERF2IP is linked to melanoma.
