For example, rs3184504, a nonsynonymous SNP in SH2B3 that was associated in GWAS with BP, coronary heart disease, hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, and type 1 diabetes [12], is a trans-eQTL for 6 of our 34 BP signature genes from the meta-analysis (FOS, MYADM, PP1R15A, TAGAP, S100A10, and FGBP2; Fig. 2A-B and Table 4). The gene discussed is MYADM; the disease is type 1 diabetes mellitus.
