The experience with these patients described in this report and others suggests that the results of these trials will show that SGLT2 inhibitors are just as beneficial, if not more beneficial, in the type 1 than in the type 2 diabetic patient due to lower postprandial glucose levels, less hypoglycemia, weight loss, and the reduced need for preprandial short-acting insulin. The gene discussed is SLC5A2; the disease is Hypoglycemia.
