Amplified genes were noted in 37% of gastric/esophageal tumors, including ERBB2, FGFR1, FGFR2, EGFR, and MET, suggesting that some of these may be viable targets in esophageal cancer although amplification of some of these may be more prevalent in gastric tumors. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is esophageal cancer.
