Results showed that the decreased autophagic activityobserved in ectopic and eutopic endometrialcells can lead to less autophagy-dependent degradationof proteins and less programmed cell death.In this way, ectopic endometrial cells can adhere tothe extracellular matrix, invade other tissues, growoutside the endometrium and thus cause endometriosis.The correlation between levels of expressionand the concentration of interactive sites betweenBeclin-1 and members of the Bcl-2 familysuggest that Beclin-1 may be involved in apoptoticprocesses that also involve the Bcl-2 family. Here, BCL2 is linked to endometriosis.
