SOAT1 and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma: We did not examine the STAT phosphorylation status in our study or the effect of SFK inhibition on STAT phosphorylation in our HNSCC lines however inhibition of STAT-mediated signaling could contribute to the anti-proliferative/pro-apoptotic effects of SU6656 observed in our system after extended treatment and at high inhibitor concentrations (not shown) and strategies to interfere with SFKs may demonstrate therapeutic efficacy due in part to their effect on STAT signaling.
