Logistic regression analysis of those factors associated with the increase of CD4+ cell count showed that a CD4+ cell count lower than the median (343/mm3) at the beginning of the study (Exp(B) 5,354, 95% confidence interval 1,681–17,052, p = 0,005) and the absence of cirrhosis (Exp(B) 4,648, 95% confidence interval 1,437–15,034, p = 0,010) were positively associated with the increase of CD4+ cell during the follow-up. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is Cirrhosis.
