Using a bleomycin mice model for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, Russo et al. [31] showed attenuated AKT phosphorylation and NF-κB activation in PI3Kγ-deficient mice which were associated with reduced pulmonary fibrosis and lower lethality in these mice. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
