HMGB1 and cancer: Luciferase reporter assay further revealed that miR-129-2 could directly target and inhibit high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), which has been found to be up-regulated and involved in the pathogenesis of many kinds of human cancers [10], and knockdown of HMGB1 inhibits cell migration and invasion of glioma cells in vitro in our study.
