Excessive fat accumulation in WAT led to ectopic fat deposition in BAT and liver, giving rise to whitening of BAT (Fig. 4) and hepatic steatosis (Fig. 5), and the latter was associated with up-regulated expression of genes for hepatic lipid sequestration, including Ppar-γ2, Cd36 and Mgat-1 (Fig. 6). Here, MGAT1 is linked to fatty liver disease.
