Moreover, we also found that upon HDAC inhibition, another histone acetyltransferase EP300, and TYMS, a gene involved in nucleotide synthesis, are both transcriptionally downregulated upon HDAC inhibition (Supplementary Fig S5), and shRNA suppression of either gene by itself is lethal to cancer cells even without DNA damage (Supplementary Fig S6). The gene discussed is HDAC9; the disease is cancer.
