At present, 4 molecules have been manufactured (Additional file 1: Table S1); 2 are available in France: anakinra, a short half-life IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) approved for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and since November 2013 for CAPS, and canakinumab, a long half-life monoclonal anti–IL-1β selective antibody, approved for CAPS and for sJIA and gouty arthritis since September and March 2013, respectively. The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome.
