Several reports have indicated that the anti-cancer drugs-induced inhibition of UHRF1 activity and/or expression might prevent the action of two of its preferred partners, namely HDAC1 (histone deacetylase 1) and DNMT1 (DNA methyltransferases), leading to re-expression of several tumor suppressor genes and thus allowing cancer cells to undergo apoptosis21, 40, 42. The gene discussed is HDAC1; the disease is cancer.
