Our data suggest that siRNA-mediated pontin depletion in RCC cell lines revoke the pontin-induced down-regulation of E-cadherin, and subsequently increased the binding capacity of the adherens junctions for β-catenin, leaving less β-catenin transferred to the transcriptional complexes in nucleus, inhibiting the transcription of the down-stream oncogenes. This evidence concerns the gene RUVBL1 and renal cell carcinoma.
