TNF and Sepsis: Since pro-inflammatory cytokines play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of sepsis [27, 28], we next measured the concentrations of IL-6 and TNF-α in serum from mice challenged with LPS (10 mg/Kg), we observed that while both compounds at 1mg/kg significantly reduced the serum levels of TNF-α, only Mn-L1 was able to significantly reduce the serum levels of IL-6 (Fig. 3B).
