NMT1 and cancer: Compound 1 (Figure 4A) was first reported as a T. brucei NMT inhibitor with in vivo efficacy in a rodent model of trypanosomiasis (Brand et al., 2012; Frearson et al., 2010), and we have subsequently shown that this inhibitor also acts on-target to inhibit NMT in malaria parasites (Wright et al., 2014) and human cancer cell lines (Thinon et al., 2014).
