AR and Kennedy disease: Kennedy's Disease/Spinobulbar muscular atrophy (KD/SBMA) is an X-linked,androgen-dependent neuromuscular disease caused by polyglutamine (polyQ) mutation of theandrogen receptor (AR) gene [1,2].KD/SBMA is characterized by a late-onset, progressive weakness of proximal limbs andbulbar muscles in affected men as well as androgen insensitivity (such as gynecomastiaand infertility) and some sensory deficits.
