Prediabetic non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice inoculated with CTB-INS fusion protein showed a decrease in pancreatic islet inflammation (insulitis) characterized by a reduction in islet infiltration with auto-reactive lymphocytes, increased proliferation of CD4+ regulatory T-cells, and suppression of T1D onset [16,19–21]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
