Patients with severe acute pancreatitis have a WBC which is significantly higher from the statistical point of view than that of patients with mild acute pancreatitis; they also have elevated blood glucose, urea, creatinine, GOT, GPT, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, LDH, ESR, fibrinogen and cholesterol, all these values being of p <0.001. This evidence concerns the gene ESR1 and acute pancreatitis.
