For variant carriers of NFKB1/rs28362491 and homozygous A-allele carriers of TLR4/rs5030728, risk of CRC among low meat consumers was lower compared to medium and high meat consumers, who had risk estimates between 1.24 and 1.70 indicating a stronger role of meat in colorectal carcinogenesis among subjects with genetically determined high inflammatory response. Here, NFKB1 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
