Their hypothesis was based mainly on a previous report that Panx1-EGFP stably overexpressed in human prostate cancer epithelial LNCaP cells had a fluorescent ER localization pattern overlapping with BODIPY-Brefeldin A fluorescence (Vanden Abeele et al., 2006) that correlated with Ca2+ leakage from the ER with tagged and untagged Panx1 ER expression. This evidence concerns the gene PANX1 and prostate cancer.
