Recently, Tozzoli et al. (2014) showed that E. coli isolates representing the main E. coli pathogroups [enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC), enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC), enteroinvasive E. coli (EIEC), enteroaggregative E. coli (EAggEC) and extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC)] were susceptible to infection by Stx2- phages. This evidence concerns the gene STX2 and infection.
