Since ADAM10 and 17 have been shown to play a role in mediating acquired resistance to trastuzumab through the shedding of HER ligands [33, 35], it may be important to assess the role of ADAM 10 and 17 proteases as well as other HER ligands in mediating lapatinib resistance in HER2-positive breast cancer. The gene discussed is ADAM10; the disease is breast cancer.
