Since kinases are implicated in major cellular pathways in infection [17,24], we determined the effect of inhibitors of ERK (PD98059), JNK (SP600125) and p38 MAPK (SB203580) pathways on epithelial cell invasion by the apicomplexan parasite E. tenella. The toxicity of the inhibitors was first assessed on MDBK and m-ICcL2 epithelial cell lines by MTT and on parasites by Evans blue exclusion and CFDA-SE-PI assays. Here, MAPK8 is linked to infection.
