Epidermal growth factor receptor TKIs gefitinib and erlotinib (see Table 1) have been found to significantly increase progression-free survival in non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) patients, with one meta-analysis reporting 42.9% of patients receiving TKI therapy reaching at least 1 year of progression-free survival compared to 9.7% with chemotherapy (41). This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
