Formation and stabilization of invadopodia are relevant to the presumed tumor suppressor activity of NAV3. While rarely mutated in cancer, the spectrum of tumors in which aberrant NAV3 was detected is very wide: colorectal, breast, melanoma, adrenal carcinoma, as well as glioblastoma and neuroblastoma (Coy et al, 2002; Wood et al, 2007; Bleeker et al, 2009). The gene discussed is NAV3; the disease is neoplasm.
