While the effect of humanin on lifespan has not yet been determined, humanin and humanin analogues have shown efficacy in mouse models of cardiac injury, as well as positive effects on neuronal survival and memory in the mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease, suggesting that humanin treatment may lead to increased longevity (Tajima et al. 2005; Muzumdar et al. 2010). This evidence concerns the gene MT-RNR2 and Alzheimer disease.
