In addition to reducing oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, both of which are secondary manifestations of NASH, administering EGCG improved hepatic steatosis, a primary manifestation of NASH (Day and James, 1998), decreased serum ALT levels, ameliorated liver fibrosis, and inhibited excessive hepatocyte proliferation in this study. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
