The laboratory risk indicator for necrotizing fasciitis is a weighted risk-stratification scoring system based on abnormalities of serum sodium, glucose, creatinine, hemoglobin, WBC, and C-reactive protein derived among hospitalized SSTI patients to diagnose necrotizing fasciitis.27 Unvalidated expert-based disposition guidelines have been proposed, 28–33 one combining a graded scale of vital sign abnormalities and altered mentation, and presence of sepsis and/or significant co-morbidities.31 Here, CRP is linked to Sepsis.
